JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the General Manager of the hotel, the Restaurant Manager will oversee and manage the daily operations of the restaurant. Duties include but are not limited to overseeing the front of the house and back of the house, organizing and overseeing schedules, hiring, onboarding, training staff, conducting performance evaluations, handling discipline and terminations of employees, and addressing concerns from customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIITES (and other duties as assigned) 

  • Hires, onboards, and manages performance of restaurant staff and creates and leads training program to ensure customer service and professionalism expectations are met by entire staff.
  • Oversees and collaborates with cooks to create specials, update menu, and maintain inventory of food and supplies.
  • Oversees food storing and preparation processes to ensure restaurant operations are compliant with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards.
  • Creates and updates budget for inventory costs, including food, beverages, restaurant supplies. Purchases food and restaurant supplies.
  • Ensures restaurant and equipment follow health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards.
  • Perform the planning and management of catered events and banquets, including taking lead on working with customers to determine the catering/banquet requirements.
  • Periodically evaluates restaurant equipment for repairs and maintenance, schedules for service.
  • Maintains sales records and tracks cash receipts.
  • Prepares and submits operations reports and other documentation requested by the General Manager, Human Resources, Payroll or other departments or management.
  • Addresses customer complaints.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous restaurant experience required; management and catering experience preferred.
  • Strong supervisory, communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to learn computer software (example Toast, Inc).
  • Familiarity with food handling, safety, and other restaurant guidelines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, point of sales and/ related software or willingness and ability to become immediately proficient with the same.
