The Heavy Equipment/Crane Operator is responsible for assisting in the planning and coordinating of the daily work load and carrying out projects as well as the safe operation of our heavy equipment fleet.  The duties of this position will involve maintaining and repairing roads, airport runway and drill site pads. Winter road, runway and pad maintenance which includes snow removal. Material handling and material organization on the pads. This position also includes setting up critical crane picks and managing crane support for the Alpine field.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (AND OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED)

  • This position reports directly to the Roads & Pads Foreman.
  • The operator must be able to perform pad, road and runway maintenance and repair. The roads, runway and pads will be maintained to specified crown, grade and elevation. Winter road, runway and pad maintenance to include snow removal. Supplying the facilities, assisting in facility maintenance and construction with equipment support. Provide drill rig moves with equipment support. Load and Unload freight planes
  • This position involves being able to become OSHA certified in trenching and excavation and to perform trenching and excavating activities in a safe and proficient manner.
  • Should be familiar with the pad dewatering process and the operation of the equipment involved in dewatering.
  • This is a heavy equipment operating position and the candidate selected must be able to operate the equipment in Alpines fleet safely and proficiently. The fleet consists of but is not limited to 150 ton Link-Belt lattice crane, 90 ton Grove RT crane, 75 ton Link Belt RT crane, Cat dozers, Volvo front end loaders, Cat compactors, Cat excavators, John Deere excavators, Kenworth, Peterbilt 5th wheel tractors, 100 bbl. fuel trucks, 100 bbl. vac trucks, Bobcat, Volvo skid steers, 14 – 16 Cat blades, Genie man lifts, lowboy, flat bed and end dump trailers, Loader mounted snow Blowers, Heaters, Light tower, Gen sets, Compressors, 325 bbl. vac trailers,  2” – 6” Water pumps and Super suckers.
  • This position is responsible for the planning, rigging and execution of cranes lifts in support of the Alpine field.
  • Fly to our CD-3 remote drill site pad and provide equipment support with staged equipment.
  • Provide equipment support for our daily air cargo resupply planes unloading and loading materials.
  • Be familiar with and capable of using rotary lasers and site levels to establish grade and set grade hubs and stakes.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain logs, records, and time cards.
  • Be able to monitor equipment operation, perform pre-operation inspections, identify malfunctions, fill out maintenance requests and clean equipment.
  • Needs to be able to inspect, adjust, and perform minor equipment repairs.
  • Help prepare and maintain inventory of supplies, PPE, equipment and tools.
  • Must realize that safety, and the environment are our #1 priority here at Alpine.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support the AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.  

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED required. Three (3) years dirt work experience required. Five (5) years hydraulic crane and five (5) lattice crane experience required.  Five (5) years North Slope experience preferred. Experience in the oil and gas industry and operating equipment in the arctic environment preferred.

 

CERTIFICATIONS

Current DOT medical card and Class A commercial driver’s license required. Hazardous endorsement preferred. OSHA certification in excavating and trenching preferred. NCCCO crane certifications for Large Hydraulics and Lattice required. NSTC certification required.

Must take and pass an AES written and practical equipment certification test on all equipment employee will be operating at Alpine.

A candidate must be able to meet the following non-exclusive requirements:                                                               

  • Take and pass a pre-employment drug test which may include both UA and hair testing.                         
  • Meet the physical requirements of this position including working in a remote location under arctic conditions.
  • Required to take and pass a Fit-For-Duty Exam.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an access badge for the work location.

The availability of this position is contingent upon the Company's continued operational needs once training is completed.
