This is not a rotational position. You must live in Valdez or be willing to relocate at your own expense.

 

BRIEF JOB SUMMARY

 

Will be responsible for the maintenance of all North Pacific Fuel equipment located in Valdez.  This will include fuel trucks, boom truck, light duty pickups, all fuel transfer, and oil spill equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

  1. Perform diagnostic tests for routine maintenance procedures on trucks and equipment.
  2. Perform preventative maintenance on trucks and equipment.
  3. Determine course of action for repair of damaged parts and systems.
  4. Repair vehicle deficiencies by removing and repairing malfunctioning components such as changing  brakes, adjusting steering systems, replace worn parts and change truck  fluids.
  5. Ensure that all equipment complies with federal and state vehicle requirements.
  6. Maintain vehicle records.
  7. Keep shop equipment operating by following instructions and troubleshooting breakdowns.
  8. Contain costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
  9. Minor fabrication work.
  10. Utilize appropriate resources such as parts manual, computer, service bulletins and other resources to research problems and determine most effective and efficient method for repair and locate parts.
  11. Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  12. Perform repair and maintenance of lube carts and pumps.
  13. Participate in all required training and drills.
  14. Able to work independently.
  15. Must be able to use and wear other PPE that may be required on the job.
  16. Participate in emergency oil spill response situations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Valid Alaska Driver’s License.
  3. Must have (or be able to obtain) 24 hour HAZWOPER certification.
  4. Five years minimum of heavy equipment repair experience needed.
  5. Fuel transfer experience required.
  6. Experience in pump repair.
  7. Basic understanding of 12 volt and 115 volt electrical systems.
  8. Ability to diagnose and repair late model vehicles.
  9. Must be able to initiate and maintain a preventive maintenance program, prioritize repairs.
  10. Will require some welding.
  11. Must be well organized, have good written and verbal communication skills.
  12. Must have motivational strengths and demonstrate ability to establish and maintain cohesive and team oriented relationships with co-workers and management.
  13. Must apply for a TWIC® card (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) within 30 days from date of hire at your own personal expense.
  14. It is required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002(MTSA) that you maintain a valid TWIC card in order to work at this facility.  You must keep your TWIC card current and valid as a condition of employment.
