Act as foreman for assigned shift by assigning plant employees duties as required, overseeing customer service and other jobs crucial to the plant operations as requested by the Dutch Harbor Terminal Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

  1. Assign, supervise or assist employees as required for an efficient and productive plant operation. 
  2. Assist the Assistant Terminal Manager to hire, train and supervise sufficient number of employees to safely and efficiently run the Dutch Harbor operations while providing the highest level of customer service at all times.
  3. Assist Terminal and Administrative Managers with inventory control for all fuel, lubricants and package stock in Dutch Harbor, including conducting weekly, monthly and quarterly inventories.
  4. Assist the Administrative Manager in obtaining information for the accurate invoicing of fuel, package products, services and rents.
  5. Coordinate and supervise barge activities and complete appropriate paperwork for barge transfers.
  6. Respond to customer requests and make efforts to expand customer base.
  7. Coordinate deliveries in a fashion that maintains excellent customer service.
  8. Oversee plant and equipment condition for cleanliness and safe operation.
  9. Assist in general warehouse duties.
  10. Train employees in company policies, and methods and procedures related to their duties and responsibilities.
  11. Supervise and participate as a member of the North Pacific Fuel Hazardous Response Team.
  12. Follow and enforce Company policies and procedures.
  13. Monitor and oversee project lists with monthly updates on progress and additional projects.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Supervise all employees within the department. Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring, disciplining, coaching and training, addressing and resolving employee concerns, planning, assigning, directing work and assessing job performance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  2. Four-year degree in business or equivalent experience in related field
  3. Must apply for a TWIC® card (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) within 30 days from date of hire.
    • It is required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002 (MTSA) that you obtain a valid TWIC card in order to work at this facility.  You must keep your TWIC card current and valid as a condition of employment.
  4. Good working knowledge of fuel handling and storage.
  5. Knowledge of marine lubricants and filters.
  6. Able to supervise and maintain good relationship with employees.
  7. Knowledge of ADEC, Coast Guard, & other Government regulation.
  8. Should have a working understanding of Excel, Word and Outlook.
  9. Current Alaska Class B CDL and Forklift Operator Certification.
  10. Ability to learn to operate equipment such as loader, bobcat, flatbed truck & forklift.
  11. 24-hour or greater HAZWOPER Certification, training will be provided..

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The work environment is in a busy terminal setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
